Although women have more choices available then men when it comes to adorning themselves with jewelry, that is not the same for men. A man could wear a wedding ring, a pair of cufflinks and also a watch, of course. We are definately not experts on the first two, so we will stick to our passion of watches.
Many a time you think WoW! that’s the perfect watch! Then when you see the next one you say OMG this one’s even better. The more brands you see the more that you realise there are so many watches out there. Ultimately this is of no practical use to you unless you are able to actually decide on buying one and are satisfied with it.
With so many watches being bought each year, tens of millions of people regret their choice shortly afterwards. Through our research and analysis we have concluded that one of the main reasons why so many people regret their purchase is down to the lack of proper research.
To avoid regretting your watch buying decision we would like to suggest that when purchasing a watch you research the product thoroughly ensuring that it offers value for money and also that it is the best watch available for its price. However, doing all that research can take many hours. Not anymore thanks to the remarkable efforts of WatchiWatches. This is the main reason we are here offering our services. We are going to discuss the main styles and types of timepieces. We are also going to take a look at display types, types of watch movements types and price levels for the whole family, friends, business associates and loved ones alike.
Watch Display Type
There are basically three types of watch display types in use today known as Analog watches with an analog display, Digital watches with a digital display and Combined watches with a combined analog and digital display.
Analog watches have the oldest and most traditional watch display style. Watches with analog display normally have two watch “hands”, one denoting hours and the other minutes. Most analog watches have a third hand which points at the current second in time measurement. Analog watches are the most widely used type of watch display. A good example of a best selling contempory analog watch would be something like the example we have taken from our Timex Watch Review as follows.

Digital watches started to come out in the eighties and were for many years taken as for gimmicky gadgets. There are two main types:
LED (light emitting diode) Digital Watches
Commonly used in sport, military and ABC watches. A new type of LED technology common in smartwatches is the OLED (organic light emitting Diode).

LCD (liquid crystal display) Digital Watches
LCD displays are common in smartwatches. In recent times digital watches have become more popular due to the almost unlimited functionailty of such watches especially with the advent of various smartwatch apps. A good example of a typical best selling and good value for money LCD digital watch from the early days which continues to sell well would probably come from the Best Casio Watch Reviews as follows:

Digital watches have become popular since the 1980s thanks to the great efforts of the likes of Casio and Seiko. More recently with the advent of smart watches and the need to maximize information available at your fingertips at anytime and at any place, the mainstream demand for digital watches has become exponential.
Analog-Digital Dual Display Watches
Analog-digital dual displays can be really useful to exhibit maximum information available with a passing glance as well as having the ability to present further information by pressing buttons. Also great if one type of display should fail for whatever reason. We have many good models reviewed from top watch brands available with a best selling example taken from the Best Casio Watches Reviews as follows:

There are 5/6 types of watch movement available including mechanical (hand-wound) and Automatic (self-wound) as well as for Quartz and Kinetic movement watches. More recently Solar and Atomic powered watches have become more widely available thanks to the efforts of top watch brands like Casio.
Mechanical Movement Watches (hand wound)
The traditional hand wound mechanical watch continues to fascinate watch enthusiasts and lovers of engineering alike. It is as if a working universe was recreated within a watch case. A mechanical watch which is neither self-winding nor electrically driven is called a manual winding watch. Nowadays the mechanical is less popular than quartz movement watches. However if you want to know how to start a watch collection then it would be better to buy mechanical watches. We also have a post for a nice investment watches review for expensive watch buyers.
We have taken a great value for money example of one of our best selling hand wound mechanical watches from the Orient watch review below
Our overall Best Value for Money Affordable Manual Winding Mechanical Watches
Mechanical watches are hand-wound so would have to do that manually on a daily basis. As you wind the watch up the mechanical movement coils up energy in the mainspring which is then released and regulated by a sophisticated system of gears. This is done with such precision that the change of hours, minutes and seconds are syncronized with the regulation of energy from the watch movement.
Mechanical watches on average lose around about an hour annually and are sensitive to amongst others, changes in temperature, position and magnetism. Good examples can be found with Skeleton watches which are popular and we have some helpful skeleton watch reviews to help you find a nice model.
Automatic Movement Watches (Self-wound)
The automatic self-winding automatic mechanism was invented in the 18th for pocket watches. A version suitable for wristwatches was first developed in the 1920s. Automatic watches are mechanical watches which have been “upgraded” with an automatic mechanism and can either be self-winding or electrically driven. Self-winding is achieved by utilizing the wearer’s natural hand movements to generate the wind-up energy. This is done by adding an eccentric weight to the watch movement, which being finely balanced on a pivot, turns with every movement of the hand. The movement of the weight used is able to rewind the mainspring thereby making the whole process automatic.
